I was privileged to chat with Maxine Blackburn the other day. I have read one of her books, but didn’t realize she has four! Her books are collections of memories, helpful hints, and just plain interesting stuff. I know we have an autographed one at the library - check it out!

And speaking of the library, did you all know that there are four sections of the library where paperback books sell for 25 cents and hardback books for 50 cents as well as videos for 25 cents. There is another section where there are new books for between 1-3 dollars. There is a rack outside where the books and magazines are FREE. Stop by and see us!

Mysti Johnson has returned to High Maintenance Salon. I know I mentioned this before, but wanted to salute all the wonderful hair stylists in Blanco - there is someone for everybody! There will also be a new one coming soon called Cigi’s via 281. Keep watching! At High Maintenance Salon, you can now get an airbrush tan – no orangey look – I’ve seen the results. Great prices too!

Don’t forget the Blanco VFD fish fry - April 5, from 4:30-7:00. The food is TERRIFIC, and so is the service.

A glimpse was caught of Winston Moore at the house of his mother-in-law, Lonie Ethridge. Sightings of Mr. Moore are few and far between!

We also heard that Sparky, the chief dog of Dorothy and Ryan Trimble, is up to his old tricks – I guess that is because he is an “old dog!”

On Saturday, March 22, Live Oak Medical Center hosted an Easter Egg hung for employees’ children outside on the front lawn. Residents enjoyed watching the children scamper to find the hidden eggs. We then went inside for the residents’ egg hunt, where the children helped the residents find their eggs hidden throughout the front of the facility. Refreshments of cookies and punch were served and door prizes were given out. Gifts from the Yucca Garden were passed out to the residents, making it a happy ending to the afternoon.

Marilyn and Lawrence Mikes went to Seguin last Friday for their granddaughter’s Spring Showcase. Shelby has been on the dance team at Seguin High School for two years. The showcase gives the girls a chance to show off their routines. The Mikes stayed over with their daughter and her family, Debbie, Bobby, Shelby and Travis Burt. They had supper at Chili’s that evening.

Tyler Hernandez, and Cade, Cassidy, and Brandt Wagner spent most of Spring Break with their grandparents, Bart and Debbie Burkhard in Cedar Park. While there, they enjoyed going to the Bob Bullock Museum, the movies and the State Capitol. While at the Capitol, they took turns rolling down the hills and had a blast!

On Saturday, March 22 Wes and Charlotte had an Easter BBQ, guests included their sons, Michael Trevino and Ley Thomas and their daughter, Crystal Thomas as well as Brittany Hesskew, Candise Treiber, Brenda Treiber, Haylee Hunter, Juan Hernandez, Pepe Mancha, Richard Ketay, Sam Corder, Sammy Ruiz and Danny.

Things are moving and shaking down here on the Square! Keep your eyes and ears open for new and interesting developments!
