First Baptist Church Dinner Theater
Wednesday, March 26, 2008 • Posted March 25, 2008

On March 29 and 30, a group of students at First Baptist Church of Blanco will be hosting a Dinner Theater in the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church. There will be an Italian meal served during the performance, featuring skits and comedy routines.

The Dinner Theater has been held annually for the past 20 years to help fund mission trips that the students go on during the summer.

The very first missions were small, with the first groups traveling to Eagle Pass to help with Vacation Bible School and later Del Rio to help build a house. Over the years, they have increased the distance that they travel, going to places such as Piedras Negras to assist at an orphanage.

Last summer they were able to go to Glorietta, New Mexico, where they gave 15 hours of community service to a nursing home.

This year they hope to travel to Cleveland, Tennessee, where they will work with children who are displaced and/or underprivileged.

The mission trips not only benefit the recipients, but the students who get to go as well. The trips offer a glimpse at what life is like for others that are less fortunate and give the students the opportunity to see that they really can make a difference.

The students rely heavily on the proceeds from the Dinner Theater, and would like to invite everyone in the Blanco community to come, eat and have a great time! It starts at 6:30 on both March 29 and 30, and tickets are $12 at the door.
