Our Servicemen

August 29, 1969

U.S. Air Force Airman 1-C Lawrence L. Dildine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil L. Didine of Johnson City, has arrived for duty at Da Nang AB, Vietnam.

Airman Dildine, a navigation equipment repairman in a unit for the Pacific Air Forces, previously served at Holloman AFB, New Mexico.

He is a graduate of LBJ High School.

His wife, Patricia, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Withers of Johnson City.

Births

September 4, 1980

Mr. and Mrs. David L. Triesch of San Antonio became the proud parents of 12 ounce baby boy, Nathan David, born August 1, 1980.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dee Lee Triesch of Marion.

Great – Grandparents are Mrs. Lenore J. Creel of Kendalia and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Knoll of Blanco.

Football Ex’es to Play Friday

August 29, 1969

Don’t forget the BIG Ex’es football game scheduled for September 5, Friday night at 8:00 p.m. Admission will be $1.00 and 50 cents.

Proceeds from this game will go to the Blanco Panther Team, so come out and enjoy a good game and support the 1969 Panthers.

Style Show Planned

September 4, 1980

The Blanco Chapter of Young Homemakers of Texas will sponsor a style show, presented by Hill Country Place, Tuesday evening, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blanco school lunchroom.

Juniors and misses fashions of the present and the past will be presented as well as children’s fashions.

The public is cordially invited to attend.

There is no charge.

Child care will be provided during the style show in the homemaking Cottage at Blanco High School.

Door prizes will be offered.

Panther Cheerleaders

August 29, 1969

Cheerleaders for the Blanco Pep Squad this year are Karen Scharnhorst, Kirstin Gloor, Ester Wolber and Holly Smith.

The first football game of the season will be played at Dripping Springs on Friday night, September 12.

Big Stripers at Canyon Lake

August 31, 1979

Canyon Lake - - Canyon Lake between Austin and San Antonio is not one of the better known striped bass lakes, but one group recently found all the striper action they could handle.

Elroy Kruger of Universal City brought in five stripers on August 19 which weighed a total of 54 pounds, three ounces. The largest was a 16 ½ pounder which was only four ounces under the lake record.

Kruger said he used a chart recorder to locate the fish in 50 feet of water and scored mostly with lead spoons and live sunfish.

Donna Duncan married to Norris

August 31, 1979

The wedding of Donna Irene Duncan and Gregory Neal Norris of Blanco was performed Saturday evening at Los Angeles Heights United Methodist Church with Reverend Clement E. Lewis officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Duncan. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Mary Ann Norris and the late Howard L. Norris.

Mrs. John B. Bridges, Lonoke, Ark, served her sister as matron of honor. Douglas Wilson was best man..

After a wedding trip to Houston, the couple will reside in Blanco.

Those attending the wedding from Blanco were Mrs. J.C. Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Olfers, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Olfers. Mrs. Jean Bates and Justin. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Wood and sons.
