Have you had enough? A profound question can often provoke a positive change in direction to a life, a Community, a State, or a Country. We often seem to be going full speed ahead in a day in day out living of life with no purpose or vision. It’s easy in our fast pace lives to find we are way off the path GOD had purposed for our lives. We go until we can’t go anymore or when our resources run out we find ourselves without hope to start all over again.
Have you found yourself asking, “When was the Blanco River this low?” Let me assure you this is not a global warming article. Even though I believe GOD has a “Global Warming” plan that I would want to warn everyone to escape through salvation in our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST.
This is a message to my fellow believer’s in JESUS who have the SPIRIT of adoption crying to GOD as ABBA (Daddy) FATHER. Together believers have a responsibility to intercede before GOD, for we have been given much and there is an expectation we will give much. As we read 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 GOD has shut up heaven and there is no rain. GOD calls HIS people to call on HIS name, humble themselves, pray, seek HIS face and turn from their wicked ways. When we respond, GOD promises to hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land. GOD has shut up heaven; there is no rain. We are in severe to extreme drought conditions. We believers need to ask ourselves some questions, “Have we had enough yet?” Have we had enough of worldly pursuits? Have we had enough of looking and acting like the world? Have we had enough of not producing fruit? Have we had enough of the pain in our lives? Have we had enough of masking the pain through ungodly methods? Have we had enough of the pride keeping us from humbly coming together in prayer? Have we had enough of being so hard hearted that we don’t feel the pain anymore? Have we had enough of (fill in the blank)? GOD has determined HIS children to be the answer to a shut up heaven and no rain. My fellow believers, we are the answer to the drought, the question is, “Have we as the children of GOD had enough yet?”
First, let’s establish that Scriptures teaches three essential truths about GOD—truths we must believe if we are to trust HIM in adversity. They are: *GOD is completely sovereign. *GOD is infinite in wisdom. *GOD is perfect in love. These three truths can best be related to us in this way. “GOD in HIS love always wills what is best for us. In HIS wisdom HE always knows what is best, and in HIS sovereignty HE has the power to bring it about.” The sovereignty of GOD is asserted, either expressly or implicitly, on almost every page of the Bible.
Lamentations 3:37 Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? 38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come? It is one heart-quieting consideration in all the afflictions that befall us, that GOD has a special hand in them: “The Almighty hath afflicted me” (Ruth 1:21). Instruments can no more stir till GOD gives them commission, than an axe can cut of itself without a hand. Job eyed GOD in his affliction: therefore Augustine observes, he does not say, “The LORD gave, and the devil took away,” but, “The LORD hath taken away.” Whoever brings affliction to us, it is GOD that sends it. The evil of affliction works for good to the godly. Do not mistake me; I do not say that of their own nature the worst things are good, for they are the fruit of the curse; but though they are naturally evil, yet the wise over-ruling hand of GOD disposing and sanctifying them, they are morally good. As in a watch, the wheels seem to move contrary one to another, but all carry on the motions of the watch: so things that seem to move cross to the godly, yet by the wonderful providence of GOD work for their good. Among the worst things that happen to a child of GOD whether affliction, temptation, desertion, or the evil of sin: Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. The reason all things work for good is our GOD has made a covenant with us. “They shall be My people, and I will be their GOD.” (Jeremiah 32:38)
Now, let us hear from JESUS in the middle of a series of final discourses to HIS disciples just before HE is crucified. In John 15 JESUS establishes HIMSELF as the True Vine, GOD the FATHER as the Vinedresser and the believer as the branch. In teaching on John 15 Bruce Wilkinson confirms the Vinedressers goal is for HIS glory on each branch by the production of much fruit. The flow of fruit production is from no fruit to fruit, from fruit to more fruit, and finally from more fruit to much fruit. The Vinedresser is active in the life of the branch to produce much fruit in every branch. Through repeated surveys it has been determined that 60% of church members believe they are best represented by a branch with no fruit. GOD the FATHER our Vinedresser has a process of getting HIS branches from no fruit to fruit (out of sin) by lifting them up out of the dirt of the world, washing them off and placing them back into a position to get the light of the sun. GOD our Fathers process in our lives is the discipline described in Hebrews 12. First HE brings a mild rebuke (a verbal warning), if that doesn’t work HE brings chastisement (emotional anxiety or distress), and when that fails to turn us around HE scourges (brings physical discomfort) every child HE receives. Each one of these processes is restorative with the goal of getting the child to stop sinning. GOD the FATHER through the blood of HIS SON has forgiven all the believers sin and HE is active in our lives to encourage us to a life of holiness. Hebrews 12:4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” 7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Consider some sins GOD the FATHER brings HIS discipline to bear upon the believer. The sin of unforgiveness, the sin of sexual immorality, the sin of pride and the sin of idolatry; when a believer chooses to trust in a lie over GOD’S word. Where GOD leads the grace of GOD empowers the believer. As maturing branches producing much fruit we should be moving to a life of sinning less, selflessness, to a life abiding in CHRIST.
Enough is enough. AMEN! Let believers come together seeking HIS face and turning from our wicked ways. America is in a time of spiritual crisis! Texas as a prophetic State is being called to lead in a prayer revival that will impact the entire Nation. Blanco is experiencing extreme drought conditions. Believers across the Nation are coming together to “Cry Out to the LORD”. Joel 1:14 Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the elders And all the inhabitants of the land Into the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD. Join the movement across America as we gather at our County Courthouse on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 12:00 Noon and for those who cannot be there at that time, let us meet on Thursday, September 10 at 7:00pm.
