Wednesday, September 2, 2009 • Posted September 1, 2009

Several members of the Blanco FFA Chapter took part in the annual Blanco County Fair Prospect Steer Show in Johnson City. Seniors Kaleigh Anderson and Quaid Haack led the way, as each exhibited breed and division champions.

Kaleigh took home champion honors in the Simbrah class, in addition to claiming top honors overall in the American Breed Division. She was also named Reserve Champion with her Santa Gertrudis and Chianina steers.

Quaid also did well, winning champion banners in both the Santa Gertrudis and Maine Anjou divisions, in addition to being selected Reserve Champion American Breed overall.

While Kaleigh and Quaid placed high, Dustin Green also faired well exhibiting the Reserve Champion Limousin and Angus steers.

Other local FFA members competing and doing well included: Kylie Leachman - 3rd place Charolais, Asher Haack - 4th place Limousin, and Grady Childress - 4th place American Breed Heifer.

Over the next couple of weeks, these FFA members, along with several others, will travel to Boerne and Hondo to take part in the Kendall County and Medina County Fairs.
