September 5, 1969

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hensley of San Antonio are the proud parents of a baby girl, Connie Lee, born August 29, 1969.

She weighed an even 8 pounds.

Paternal grandparents are Ernest Hensley of Blanco and Mrs. Ray Turner of Houston.

The maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Smith of Blanco.

Creek Walk helps local groups

September 11, 1980

The October 12 Creek Walk, sponsored by the Blanco Chamber of Commerce and the Hill Country Artists, provides an opportunity for local nonprofit organizations to earn money for their own purposes.

A wide variety of foods, snacks and beverages has always contributed to the pleasure of starving artists and strollers, young and old.

If your group would like to sponsor a food concession, please call concession chairman Eileen Garza at 833-5280 before September 20.

Museum Pieces Take 2nd Place

The Blanco County Historical exhibit received a second place ribbon at the recent Blanco County Fair.

This exhibit was made up of artifacts from the Blanco Chamber of Commerce.

Jones to Okinawa

September 7, 1979

Norfolk, VA - - Marine Sgt. Major Joe H. Jones, son of Emil Jones of Blanco, recently departed for a deployment to Okinawa.

He is a member of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, based at Camp Pendleton, California.

Knit Shop Re-Opened

September 5, 1969

Mr. T.A. Cain is recuperating nicely at home after spending some time in the hospital.

Mrs. Cain appreciated the consideration of their friends and customers during his illness.

She hopes to keep Maxine’s Knit Shop open during regular hours.

Peggy Wurth for HC Austin

September 7, 1979

Peggy Wurth will be guest demonstrator for the Hill Country Artists on Monday, September 10.

Peggy and her husband own the Frame Master gallery in San Antonio, where she is a full time artists and instructor. She is an accomplished artists, and well known in this area.

Meeting will be in St. Ferdinand’s Church Parish Hall at 10:00 p.m.

Admission is $2.00 for members and $3.00 for non-members.

VFW Meetings Are Announced

September 5, 1969

The Post Commander, James Meurer and the Post Quartermaster, Marvin A. Haas, wish to announce that the meetings of the James Wagner VFW Post No. 8783 will be held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning September 9, in the private dining room at the Western Steak House in Blanco.

Immunization Must!

Here’s what children need to enter first grade or kindergarten:

• At least three doses of diphtheria, tetanus, pertusssis - - (DPT) - - with one dose received after the fourth birthday.

• Or tetanus – diphtheria (TD) vaccines with one dose received after the fourth birthday

• Three doses of polio vaccine (one dose must be received after the fourth birthday)

• One dose of measles vaccine (must be received after the first birthday)

• One dose of mumps vaccine

• One dose of rubella vaccine

Remember, all public school children in Texas must show a validated record of their immunizations upon entering school.
