•Blanco State Park – Stars in the Park! - Join the San Antonio Astronomical Society for viewing the night sky. The society will have telescopes set up to look through and a slide show in case of clouds. Please bring a flashlight to use after the event. Set up begins at 7:00pm; viewing begins as soon as it is dark. Please check in at Park Headquarters for event location. For more information call: 830-833-4333.

•The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: Auditions for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever will be held on Sunday, September 13. These auditions are for anyone in the community interested in participating in this production. There are speaking parts for both children and adults. Audition times are from 2-4pm at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, with call backs that evening from 6:00-8:00pm. •The Blanco County Aggie Moms will hold their first meeting of the 2009-2010 school year on Sun, Sept 13, at 4 pm. The meeting will be held in the home of Tricia Hartmann. Plans will be discussed for fall semester activities, so please plan to attend this important first meeting! •Trinity Lutheran Church will hold their Annual Rally Day BBQ on September 13. Please join us! Sunday School starts at 9:00am and Church at 10:10am. Drive-thru or dine-in starts at 11:30am. Free-will donation, proceeds will go to our Building Fund.

•39th Annual Ladies State Chili Championship and Open Barbeque Cookoff: Sat, Oct 3 at Camp Ranger (2778 RR 32, Blanco)

from 11am - 11pm. Proceeds benefit breast cancer resources. The barbeque competition is open to cooks of both genders and promises some good eats too. The always hysterical Girly Man Beauty Contest starts at 11am. Chili samples will be ready for public tasting at 1:05pm. •26th Annual Golf Tournament of the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center: Saturday, Oct 24, at Delaware Springs Golf Course, Burnet. There are several different sponsorship levels or donors can choose to offer in kind donations for our Silent Auction. If you’re a golfer and wish to play, sign up now as there is a 144 player limit. Burnet, Blanco, Llano and Lampasas: The Crisis Center never closes and provides emergency services and a safe haven from family violence and sexual abuse – an average of 500 face to face services provided per month and almost 2,000 people per year call the hotline seeking help.
