For all you Judy and Bobby Brewer fans, those who have been wondering what the dynamic duo has been up to, word just in - they arrived home Sunday evening after spending two weeks in Cloud Croft, New Mexico. They really enjoyed the cool weather and did lots of hiking and relaxing. They were glad to get home and were really glad to see that it had rained. Judy said vacations are great, but she and Bobby were glad to get back to Blanco.
We all know there is just nothing like Blanco, no matter where you go. How many other little towns have their very own chupacabra!
A belated but heartfelt congratulations to Pearl Greebon, who has been attending Blanco United Methodist Church for 83 years! Ada Cooley was not far behind in her attendance. It is just so nice to see those ladies out and about!
Don’t forget the Ranch Rodeo out at Yett Park on September 26! I will be serving drinks behind the bar all evening, so stop by and say hey - there’s going to be some good dancing too.......so shine up your boots and come on!
On September 8, residents at Live Oak Nursing Home had a craft class where they made beautiful bookmarks and donated them to the Blanco Library. Hope everyone enjoys picking up one to use – they are at the front desk. There certainly are a lot of creative people at Live Oak!
On September 10, the Methodist Church came to host our monthly Birthday Party. Darlene Kiernan played the piano and Dorothy Dillon sang many memorable songs as cake, ice cream and punch were served to our residents. The birthday honorees were: Margaret Herst, Margaret Parmer, Marrein Dick Knoll, Herbert Cowsert, and Lillie Foster. The honorees received wonderful gifts, thanks to Rebecca Howerton and Blanco National Bank.
On Friday, September 11, residents gathered in the dining room at Live Oak to celebrate Margaret Parmer’s birthday; she turned 87 on Saturday. Her granddaughter brought a decorated sheet cake, chocolate cupcakes, and ice cream for all to enjoy while Margaret opened her gifts. Happy 87th Maragret!
