• Saturday Night Hill Country Praise will be held at the Blanco United Methodist Church featuring Gene and LaVada Triesch. Hamburgers served at 5:30pm with gathering music by The Driftwood Gospel Band. Event is free and open to the public.

• First Annual “Deacon Jack Murrell” Golf Tournament will be held at at the Valler Creek Golf Club (3 miles south of Blanco) on Sept. 26 at 9am. The tournament will be a 4 men or women team. Cost will be $110 per person. The proceeds will go to establish a senior scholarship fund, donation to the Catholic Services Appeal and maintenance funds of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. •Plateau Land & Wildlife Management will be holding free seminars on Wildlife Management Valuation in Hays and Blanco Counties on Oct. 1 from 6-8pm at the Wimberley Community Center and Oct. 6 from 6-8pm at the Old Blanco Courthouse. Please join Plateau professionals for an informative discussion of this alternate tax valuation and learn why many rural landowners in Ag across Texas are making the switch to Wildlife. •Friends of the Wimberley Village Library will be having their Annual Book Sale at the Chapel in the Hills Community Church (14601 RR 12, Wimberley) on Friday, Oct. 2 from 5-8pm (Member's Preview) and Saturday, Oct 3 from 8am-5pm. Sales benefit the Wimberley Village Library.

•Harvest Moon Potluck and Pie Fest planned for Sat, Oct 3 at the Old Blanco County Courthouse starting at 6pm. Bring your favorite pie or covered dish to this Kick-Off Cook-Off and learn more about Blanco Verde’s goals and their upcoming fall events. Meet for dinner at 6:00. Pie judging at 8pm with awards at 8:30pm. The Golden Rulers will play music until 11pm. Donation at the door is $5 or two pies (one for tasting and one for judging). •39th Annual Ladies State Chili Championship and Open Barbeque Cookoff: Sat, Oct 3 at Camp Ranger (2778 RR 32, Blanco)

from 11am - 11pm. Proceeds benefit breast cancer resources. The barbeque competition is open to cooks of both genders and promises some good eats too. The always hysterical Girly Man Beauty Contest starts at 11am. Chili samples will be ready for public tasting at 1:05pm. •Hermann Sons – Twin Sisters Lodge # 138 will meet for their regular meeting on Sunday, October 4 at Twin Sisters School house at 2:30pm. We will celebrate OktoberFest with Sausage, Sauerkraut, German Potato Salad and Desserts. All members are encouraged to attend.

•26th Annual Golf Tournament of the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center: Saturday, Oct 24, at Delaware Springs Golf Course, Burnet. There are several different sponsorship levels or donors can choose to offer in kind donations for our Silent Auction. If you’re a golfer and wish to play, sign up now as there is a 144 player limit. Burnet, Blanco, Llano and Lampasas: The Crisis Center never closes and provides emergency services and a safe haven from family violence and sexual abuse – an average of 500 face to face services provided per month and almost 2,000 people per year call the hotline seeking help.
