Troublefield Awarded Scholarship

Jacob Troublefield, a graduate of Blanco High School, has been awarded a scholarship by the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.

Troublefield received The Mike A. Myers Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $2,000, payable for the first year of higher education. The Myers Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who have competed at the University Interscholastic League Academic State Meet and who has compiled and outstanding record of academic and extracurricular achievement.

This year the TILF awarded 353 new awards and will renew approx 252 awards for a total of more than 605 scholarships for 2009-10, with value of over $1 million. Recipients may attend any approved college or university in Texas.

Troublefield competed in social studies at the 2009 UIL Academic State Meet. He also participated in UIL current issues and events, cross examination debate and one-act play throughout his high school career.

Troublefield plans to attend University of Texas at Austin and major in history.
