Rebecca Howerton says, "The medallion for the Blanco Historic Cemetery is here. We will unveil the medallion at 2:00 P. M. on Saturday, April 12, at the cemetery as part of the official Blanco County Sesquicentennial Festivities. This medallion is a great honor for our cemetery because there are only 13 historic cemeteries in Texas at this time."

This event will include guitar music from the 1800's performed by Trevor McGuire and Travis Mabrito. Speaking at the event will be John McCrocklin, a direct descendant of Jesse McCrocklin, the boy courier for Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto. Jesse McCrocklin later went on the Somervell-Mier Expedition and was a Confederate Colonel during the Civil War.

Dorothy Dillon of Blanco will speak about one of her ancestors, Frances Alexander. Miss Alexander was a poetess who was an active member of the Austin Poets Society and as a result she hosted Robert Frost when he came to Texas. Miss Alexander and her sister were missionaries to China during World War II and had many adventures in that country.

Also speaking will be Charlie Haydon who will recall family stories about William Blackwell, the County Treasurer of Blanco who formed the Minute Men Rangers of Blanco during the Civil War era. The Minute Men Rangers were formed in 37 counties to protect the frontier from Indian raids which occured more frequently once the Federal troops were removed.
