The most important news this week, and this doesn't happen very often, especially in today's society, is the fact that TD and Leona Smylie will have been married 67 years on Sunday, October 4th! And they still get along real well! It is a privilege to be able to be the one to announce this.......
In other news, Bob Daughdril's son, Rob, and Rob's wife, Helen, came to visit Mr. D on their way to New Mexico last Tuesday. Rob works for Homeland Security and they were headed to a conference. They also stopped on their way back to visit a little more before they went home to Louisiana. Bob's son, Benjie, should be here pretty soon for the deer too!
And this sits squarely under the heading of things I didn't know and am now glad I found out (most of you probably already have heard this) - Carroll Smith used to play bass for J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers, who had that tearjerker of a song, "Last Kiss." The web page is www.TheCavaliersBand.com and Carroll is the only one in a suit on the left-hand side of the picture (you can tell it's him). And to think I saw them play back at the roller rink in Parkersburg, West Virginia, about 1965. It is a really, really small world!
Don't forget the Wild Game dinner, the Trinity Fall Fest, and Blanco Verde's Harvest Moon Potluck and Pie Fest at the courthouse - everything is happening on Saturday (except for TD and Leona's anniversary)! This is another weekend where you can just go from one thing to another :)
