Blanco Methodist Variety Show Benefits Relay For Life
Wednesday, April 2, 2008 • Posted April 1, 2008

The Blanco United Methodist Church Relay For Life teams (Keystone Kops and Cancer Cops) presented an exceptional variety show on March 25 in conjunction with the regular Tuesday night dinner that raised over $1000 to aid in the fight against cancer.

Performances of solos, duets, skits, country dancing, poetry readings, harmonica, accordion, and piano presentations, along with a magic act followed a meal of lasagna, salad, French bread, brownies and ice cream. The crowd of approximately 90 enjoyed an evening of entertainment.

The team theme of “traffic signs” decorated the room with “STOP cancer,” “YIELD to the cure,” “DETOUR cancer” and “DIP for $$” relating to cancer research.

The actual county-wide Relay for Life event will be held in Johnson City at April 19-20. Anyone interested in more information can contact Kasi Baker at 210-415-9591 (rainbirdgallery@moment.net) or Wendy Smith at 833-5584 (wendy78606@txwinet.com) for more information.
