Wednesday, April 2, 2008 • Posted April 1, 2008

KERRVILLE–Employees of rural lending cooperative Capital Farm Credit (CFC) have willingly adopted a cause near and dear to their hearts. Eight employees, including Sarah Cortese from the Kerrville Credit Office, participated in the 11th annual Susan G. Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure on March 29. Racing as Capitals Cause for a Cure, the ladies joined a total of 28,438 participants in downtown San Antonio in support of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Komen Foundation has invested nearly $1 billion in breast cancer research and community outreach programs, becoming one of the world's largest sources of funds fighting breast cancer.

Capitals Cause for a Cure raised over $2,500 for the San Antonio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. The 2008 event raised over $1 million in contributions to fund important breast cancer services and international breast cancer research. Through the support of participants and donors, Komen is able to accomplish its promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is determined to make a difference in the fight to end breast cancer. Capital Farm Credit is happy to join the cause.
