Blanco JV Blue Loses in Double OT
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 • Posted October 6, 2009

Despite the score of 6-0, the Blanco JV Blue Youth Football team dominated the field in an exciting game Saturday afternoon.

Offensively, the Panthers had eight first downs.  Brandon Phipps led the way with 37 yards.  Close behind was Devin Sauerhoff with 34 yards and Jermey Kindla ended the day with 30 yards.  Kindla was stopped short of a touchdown before time expired in the first half.  Our offensive line, Wyatt Perkins, Kaleb Hunter, Blake Brandon, Tristan Lopez and Noah Wheeler, did an outstanding job blocking.

Defensively, the Panthers had their best performance this season, holding the Hawks to just two first downs.  Kelby Cox forced a fumble that Phipps recovered and another forced fumble by Toby Triesch was recovered by Sauerhoff.  Also causing a fumble was Justin Wardlow, recovered by Chance Horton.  Wardlow and Kindla each had an interception.  Triesch ended the game with nine tackles and Cox with eight tackles.  Will Granberg came alive in the 4th quarter to break up two plays.

In a nail-biting double overtime, the Hawks scored the only touchdown of the game.
