FFA Wins Comal-Guadalupe Invitational

Members of the Blanco FFA Land and Range Judging teams traveled to Seguin this past Wednesday to compete in the Annual Comal-Guadalupe S&WC District Invitational Land and Range Plant ID Contests. Overall, Blanco took top honors in each of the contests, while also winning numerous individual awards as well.  More than 200 participants from 10 schools competed in this year’s events.

In the land competition, senior Lauren Graham finished in first place overall, while Zach Barnes, Tanner Reddout, and Jared York placed 3rd, 5th, and 9th respectively.  Other land judgers from Blanco included: Kelcee Hunter, Lacee Hunter, Lauren Winn, Lindsey Winn, Brian Roche, Brooks Wyatt, Susannah Campbell, Quin Gourley, Weston Copenhaver, Tauna Luke, Tyler Tredaway, David Hostetler, Justine Cooley, Travis McClinton, and Adrian Young.

The range plant identification contest would see Corey Dowlearn win a tie breaker over Grayson Elrod to claim the top spot.  Others finishing in the top ten individuals were Kaleigh Anderson, Taylor McCormick, Mindy Dechert, Kylie Leachman, and Grady Childress. Other Blanco FFA members participating in the plant identification contest were: Payton Duvall, Katelyn Bradfute, John Pepper, Matt Pepper, Cody Perez, Chelsea Fuller, Callie Faurie, Clint Dreyer, Tyler Noah, Alex Gustafson, TJ Raby, Maggie Dennis, Taylor Hartmann, and Garrett Gombert.

Both the Land and Range Judging Teams, along with the Range Plant ID team, will be competing this week in the Hill District FFA Contests on Monday in Blanco, before traveling to San Marcos on Wednesday to compete in the Area VII Contests.
