Laura “Lorrie” Johnston Ashby

The Lord called Laura “Lorrie” Johnston Ashby home on October 6, 2009.  Lorrie was born in Valparaiso, Florida, on August 25, 1955, and spent her early childhood in various military bases around the world, including several years in Italy.

Lorrie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and June Johnston. Lorrie’s life was greatly enriched by her husband, Craig Ashby; her three children, Angie Gottfried of San Antonio, Mark Allen Gottfried of Boerne, and Meagan Ashby of Canyon Lake; son-in-law, Frank Bernacet; daughter-in-law, Chelsea Yantis Gottfried; and three granddaughters, Sydnie, Camryn, and Madeline.  Lorrie will be deeply missed by her family: father- and mother-in-law, James Lavoy and Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Connell of Temple; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Jimmye Bedford of Alvin, Greg and Karen Ashby of Blanco, JoMac Connell, Danny and Kim Nunez, and Karen Connell, all of Temple; and many nieces and nephews.

Lorrie’s love of God and love of life touched her numerous family members and many friends, including her Blanco United Methodist family and the Emmaus community.

Lorrie was a professional in the electrical warehouse industry for 32 years and made friends throughout the country. She enjoyed spending time with her family, with her Church and Emmaus families, and with her animals.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  A celebration of Lorrie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 2:00pm at the Blanco United Methodist Church in Blanco, Texas.
