BCARE to Meet on October 29
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 • Posted October 20, 2009

The Blanco County Association of Retired Educators will meet at 2:30pm on Thursday, October 29 at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson City. This will be the second meeting of the newly formed organization.

The Blanco County local, known as BCARE, has forty members on its roster. BCARE will hold four meetings during this membership year which runs from July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2010. Any retired school employee who receives a retirement check from the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) is eligible to become a member of Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) and BCARE. It is important for retired educational employees to join together to strengthen the voice of TRTA and BCARE in pursuing benefits for retired Texas education personnel.

The program topic at this quarterly meeting is stroke prevention and will be presented by Joey Wyatt, representative of Stroke Scan, a company endorsed by TRTA.

Even if you cannot be an active participant at this time, please support TRTA and BCARE by becoming a member. We need more voices. You may send your dues to: Mary Nabers, Membership Chair at P.O. Box 40 Blanco, TX 78606. You may call or email her with any questions or concerns at 830-833-4109 or BCARE can accept your state TRTA annual dues of $25 and forward them to the state office. Local BCARE dues are only $5.00.

Those who wish can bring canned or non-perishable foods to the meeting to donate to local food banks. BCARE can be a force for good in the local communities.
