Blanco High School FCCLA members had an opportunity to go “Beyond the Limits” at the local Fall Leadership Meeting held October 21, 2009, in Pflugerville, Texas. Over 270 members and advisors from 15 different school districts attended the workshop held at Austin’s Park. Schools that participated in the meeting were: Academy HS, Bandera HS, Blanco HS, Giddings HS, Hendrickson HS, Hutto MS, Hutto HS, Kitty Hawk MS, Llano HS, Lexington HS, Marble Falls HS, Metzger MS, Nixon-Smiley HS, Pflugerville HS, Samuel Clemens HS, and Thorndale HS.
The purpose of the Fall Leadership Meeting is to educate and introduce new and returning members to the wide range of FCCLA projects which they can take back and incorporate into their school. It also allows members and advisors to network with each other while having fun.
FCCLA Region and State Officers are responsible for conducting a meeting to reach at least nine local schools. Chelsea San Miguel, Region V President, was one of eight officers to conduct a session at the workshop. Workshop sessions included: May the Force be with You – Leadership Enhancement Opportunities, To Infinity and Beyond – Leadership and Team Building, Solar System Shuffle – Power of One, Alien Invasion – Personality Types, Moonwalk – Team Building, Shooting Star – STAR Event Bingo, Rule the Planets – Parliamentary Procedure.
