The cover of the binder is entitled Raising The Bar; Coach Amy Hackebeil, Coach Brandi Mumme, and the 2009 Varsity Volleyball Team have done just that. The Lady Panthers soundly defeated the Schulenburg Lady Horns 3-1 on Friday, November 6 at the Luling gym to claim the Area Championship.

The Blanco team started the match strong, winning the first game 25-21 and the second game 25-13. In the third game, the Lady Horns rallied some momentum and won 10-25. The Lady Panthers settled back into their game and took the fourth with a score of 25-19.

Middle blockers Alyssa Warner and Caitlan Gibbons were relentless at the net, killing, blocking, and tipping the ball back at the Lady Horns. Tara Tredaway served strongly and set the ball well to all the hitters. Defensive specialists Sierra Martinez, Kylie Hill, Alex Gustafson, Lindsey Jenkins and Lacee Hunter made amazing digs that surprised the Lady Horns and thrilled the Panther fans. Lacee, Abbey Weaver and Micaela Klein slammed shots from their outside hitter positions. Micaela contributed blocks at the net. Sierra, Alex, Lacee, Abbey and Lindsey added service power. Lauren Graham and Justine Cooley supported the team as service and defensive specialists.

The Lady Panthers played the Regional Quarterfinal match on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:30 in Wimberley against the Navarro Lady Panthers. Results for this game were not available at press time.
