“Care & Share” Meal Scheduled
Wednesday, November 18, 2009 • Posted November 17, 2009

The Blanco Masonic Lodge has announced that the annual Ernie R. Davis, Jr. Memorial “Care & Share Dinner” will be held on Saturday, November 21, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the lodge (located on the southwest corner of US Highway 281 and Eleventh Street.). Each year, local Masons and Eastern Star members provide a full Thanksgiving dinner to the elderly, shut-ins, and local Blanco community residents through this free event. This meal is prepared and served by volunteers from Blanco Masonic Lodge #216 and Blanco Eastern Star Chapter #934.

Marilyn Davis, widow of the namesake, has played a major role in the annual meal preparation and area delivery since its inception. Tom Williams, Master of the lodge, states, “Marilyn and her assistants are the folks who give us the ability to make this happen. We couldn’t do it without them.”

The “Care & Share Dinner” meals are served in the lodge for those that come in and home delivery is provided to elderly and shut-ins who cannot make it to our lodge to participate in the dinner. Last year over 225 meals were served at this annual Thanksgiving tradition. “Brother Dennis Moore, who has played a pivotal role in insuring that the meals are delivered, notes that this is just one of the many ways that we as Masons work to give back to our community.”

If you are unable to attend in person, we can make arrangements for home delivery. To request home delivery, please call Dale Spreen 830-935-3086 or Terry Miller 830-438-3806 to reserve a spot on the home delivery list. You may also call the Blanco Masonic Lodge at 830-833-4164 or Guadalupe River RV Park at 888-482-3258 to make a request for home delivery. Orders will only be accepted until 1:00pm Friday, November 20th.
