Tuesday, April 15, 2008 • Posted April 14, 2008

The 4th annual Blanco County Relay for Life will be Saturday, April 19, 7:00 PM, at the Johnson City High School football stadium. Relay is a fun-filled family event, where teams get together and have fund -raising activities. All money raised will go to the American Cancer Society, so that one day we might find a cure. Some of the activies that are planned are moon bounce, waterballoon dodge ball, dunking booth, jail, stick horse races, fish pond with real fish, and much more. There will also be food booths some, including BBQ on a bun, sausage wraps, baked potatoes, hot dogs, hamburgers, shrimp and chicken kabobs, sweets and many more.

Relay is a celebration for all cancer survivors. They will start with a dinner at the Home Church at 5:00 PM, then go to the football field to start the Relay . The survivors will walk the first lap, followed by the caregiver lap, then all the teams will join in the walking.

A luminaria ceremony will be at 10:00 PM. This is a time to remember loved ones lost to cancer and celebrate the lives of those who have survived.

A fight back ceremony will be at 11:00 PM. Everyone will be encouraged to help the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer.

Relay will continue throughout the night with teams walking non-stop, because cancer never sleeps.

There will be a sunrise service at 6:30 AM, followed by a survivor breakfast.
