Blanco Women’s Club To Host Silver Tea
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 • Posted November 24, 2009

On December 10, 2009, the Blanco Women’s Club will host its annual Silver Tea, benefiting the Blanco Library.

In the summer of 1937, the Blanco County News ran an ad inviting all women who were interested in study and public speaking to call Luceba Van Dyke. Van Dyke was a teacher of elocution, and it was her hope to establish a class in public speaking and dramatics. Her dreams didn’t come true, but the Blanco Women’s Club was formed.

In that first year, 39 ladies joined, and the object of the club was “To create an organized center for the mutual improvement of its members and the community”.

The Silver Tea was started the second year, and has been going strong ever since, and so, for 71 years, the Blanco Women’s Club has supported the libarry.

On December 10, the ladies will meet for the annual Silver Tea at the Blanco Library, located at 1118 Main St, Blanco.

The Silver Tea will begin at 4:00pm and conclude at 8:00pm. All are welcome to participate. For more information, please call the Blanco Library at 830-833-4280.
