This is the week that we work hard to finish up the Christmas Lighting in Bindseil Park, the Pecan Bottom, and on the city property. It is also the time that we give “Thanks” for all of the volunteers who have helped make this time of year a special time for our families, children, and grandchildren to have a special place in Blanco to enjoy beautiful Christmas lights. We are grateful for our members and directors for their dedication to “Make and Keep Blanco Beautiful” throughout the year with their time and donations.

This year we had a special group of BISD students, the Leos, who came to the parks on two Saturdays to help wrap the tree trunks with Christmas lights. The Leos is the student group that is a part of the Blanco Lions Club and who devotes time to helping others. They worked so well together in teams. You will see many more trees lighted this year with neatly wrapped trunks, thanks to their work.

Each year the PEC “cherry pickers” spend the day with us, wrapping the canopies of the big trees in the parks, along Hwy 281, and on the City Hall and Byars Building. It is always a pleasure to work with their employees to put these lights up.

This is the second year for the Lavender Lights Market Day on the courthouse square. The Lavender growers and the Chamber of Commerce as well as all of the volunteers hold this special weekend event. Julie Dill’s vision and hard work have helped make the Lavender Days and Lavender Lights a special time for visitors as well as our families to enjoy.

The City of Blanco has corrected any electrical problems so we will be able to have our lights stay on and begin to add more decorations to the “Trail of Lights.” The nativity scene is up and the Yucca Garden Club will add a scene this year.

Please check next week’s paper for pictures and more information about the Leo volunteers.

Friday night, November 27, at 6:00 is the Christmas Lighting on the square. Please come and enjoy all the events. Visit all of the shops and enjoy their good treats. Pick up the blank Christmas Tree print-out at the Chamber office and check in at the Chamber office for their special offers and gifts.

Keep Blanco Beautiful Board and members wish you a very Blessed Thanksgiving.
