Blanco Community Choir to Perform

The Blanco County Community Choir invites the community to Christmas concerts of all-American music this weekend: Friday, December 4 at 8:00 at Community Church of the Hills in Johnson City and Sunday, December 6 at 7:00 at First Baptist Church in Blanco. The featured soloist is Sherri Stockman singing “I Wonder as I Wander,” “Rise up Shepherds and Follow,” and “Amen.” Other selections include the Appalachian songs, “Jesus the Christ is Born,” and “Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head,” and carols in the Shaker and Moravian styles as well as traditional favorites.

Choir members are sopranos Heather Beliveau, Renee Benham, Jane Copeland, Judy Dorsett, Cherie Hampton, Evelyn Painter, Beverly Voron, Paige Whittaker; altos Carolyn Boydston, Sandra Danz, Cheryl Eckenrode, Janie Jones, Gwen Michal, Priscilla Seals, Sherri Stockman; tenors Arlyn Cook, Alan Cooper, Charles Hampton, Jr., Marjorie Heard, Arlis Hiebert, Malissa Mollberg, Joe Raymond, Deb Yorgensen; basses Rick Bowen, Edward Hines, John Jones, Keith McClellan, Doug Pautz, and Stephen Porter. The choir is led this year by Vickie Pautz and accompanied by Brenda Matheny. Stephen Porter is providing a fiddle introduction, and Malissa Mollberg is accompanying “Jazz Gloria” on the drum.
