3rd Annual Cowboy Up For Kids Boots ‘N Bling Event to Benefit HCCAC
Wednesday, December 2, 2009 • Posted December 1, 2009

The stars at night will be big and bright as friends and supporters of the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center celebrate the 3rd Annual Cowboy Up For Kids “Boots ‘N Bling” event on December 5 from 6-11pm at the beautiful Lakeside Pavilion on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls. Don your best and brightest western attire — and don’t forget to add lots of bling — for this year’s version of HCCAC’s annual Cowboy Up for Kids fundraising event.

Boots ‘N Bling will feature down-home barbecue, lively music and dancing, a silent auction, and the Blackjack Saloon casino. Tickets are $25 per person with proceeds benefiting physically and sexually abused children and their non-offending family members served by the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center in eight counties: Blanco, Brown, Burnet, Lampasas, Llano, Mason, Mills and San Saba.

“Life is not easy for any of us in tough economic times, that’s why the Center is very cognizant of the ticket price for this year’s event. But the difficult economy is even more difficult for abused children,” said Mike Center, President of the HCCAC Board of Directors. “The sad facts are that as prices go up and the economy goes south, children often bear the brunt of frustrations resulting in more frequent physical and sexual abuse and higher numbers of child victim caseloads.”

The Hill Country Advocacy Center, also known as the Sunshine House, is dedicated to providing services to these child victims and their non-offending family members.

“As of the end of October, my staff and I have provided services to 272 children,” said Deborah Keith, Executive Director of the Center. “That’s 21 more child victim cases compared to the same time last year. We anticipate ending the year with nearly 300 child victim cases. Last year’s total was 297. The support of event sponsors and attendees is greatly appreciated and helps provide funding for the increasing caseload.”
