Blanco FFA to Compete at State Leadership Contests
Wednesday, December 2, 2009 • Posted December 1, 2009

After dominating the Hill District Leadership Development Events earlier this month, the Blanco FFA Chapter sent seven teams to compete at the Area VII LDEs, which were hosted by Blanco High School.

As one of the few schools to win more than five banners at this year’s competition, the Blanco FFA Chapter will also be advancing to State as a result of winning the Greenhand Chapter Conducting Contest.

Team members include: Callie Culton, Sam Isenberg, James Leachman, Tyler Hardin, Kellam Nabers, Ryan Wagner, Will Byler, and Ed Alvarado.

These students will be traveling to Huntsville next Friday and Saturday to compete in the State FFA Leadership Development Events at Sam Houston State University.

This marks the fourth time in history that the Blanco FFA will be competing at the State LDEs, and the first time to compete in chapter conducting, which is considered one of the hardest leadership events to win.

Other teams advancing to area and winning banners included: Sr. Quiz team 3rd, team members: Tyler Noah, Alex Gustafson, Taylor Hartman, and Grady Childress.

Sr. Skills team 5th, team members: Lauren Winn, Lindsey Winn, Kelcee Hunter, and Corey Dowlearn. Jr. Skills team 7th, team members: Elise Edmondson, Morgan Lowak, Ian Ray, and Tim Goodman.

Public Relations team 7th, team members: Katelyn Bradfute, Maggie Dennis, Taylor McCormick, and Grayson Elrod, and finally Callie Culton competed in a second contest, placing 7th in Jr. Creed Speaking.
