Walter Jay Lee, Jr., known as Buddy to friends and family, passed away on December 6, 2009 at Kirkwood Manor in New Braunfels at the age of 84. Buddy was born in Harlingen, Texas and worked as an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a veteran of World War II and of Korea. His children remember fondly his joy in telling them ghost stories and then challenging them to a long walk on their property in the dark and of course, he would hide and “greet” them on their way back.

Buddy is preceded in death by two sons, David Lee and Robert Lee, and his sister, Jean Dillard. He is survived by his wife, Marie Kennedy Lee of Spring Branch, Texas. Buddy is also survived by three daughters, Carol Davidson of Blanco, Jay Nell Gates of Panama City, Florida, and Celia Ann Manning of Montalba, Texas and one son, Walter “Skipper” Lee of Brownsville. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Ruth Bayless of San Antonio, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 2:15pm. Services provided by Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco.
