Lady Panthers Grab 3rd Place in Tourney

On December 5, the Lady Panthers placed 3rd in the Johnson City Basketball Tournament, defeating Johnson City and Lago Vista. The team suffered a loss to Faith Academy.

In their first game against Lago Vista, Lacee Hunter pumped in 17 points and Alyssa Warner added 15. Leading rebounders were Lacee, Micaela Klein and Abbey Weaver, with four rebounds each. Lindsey Jenkins tallied three assists. The final score in this Panther victory was 41-34.

The next round against Faith Academy proved to be a tough battle for the team. Lacee led the Panthers with ten points and Justine Cooley scored seven. Abbey snagged six rebounds, Micaela made three assists, and Lacee grabbed four steals. The team lost 33-50.

The Lady Panthers final opponent in the tournament was Johnson City. Scoring leaders for this game were Lacee and Abbey, with sixteen points each; Alyssa added nine. Outstanding rebounders were Abbey with eight and Alyssa with seven. Lindsey and Alyssa each made four steals. With the 49-36 win, the Lady Panthers captured third place.

The Varsity and JV basketball squads are scheduled for tournaments again this weekend. The girls will travel to Mason, while the boys will play in Comfort and Stockdale.
