•Yucca Garden Club - Christmas Lights Contest: Deadline for entry is Friday, Dec 11, and judging will take place on Tuesday, Dec 15. Two prizes will be awarded – one for the best lighting of a business and one for the best lighting of a home. Pick up an entry form at the Blanco Chamber or call Retta at 833-4720. Please use a separate form for each business or home to be entered. If entering by phone, be sure to give your name, address, number, and whether you are entering your business or home.

Blanco State Park – Trout Fishing: Around 1,000 rainbow trout will be stocked into the Blanco River at Blanco State Park on this day and again on Dec. 28. Only a day entry permit is needed to go fishing, no fishing license is currently required for fishing inside the park’s boundaries. Fish from the bank or rent a canoe/kayak (no motorized boats are allowed in the park). There is no length limit on trout, but a daily bag limit of 5. Dates are subject to change, so call A.E. Wood Fish Hatchery at 512-353-0572 before coming out to confirm date. For more info, call 830-833-4333.

•Blanco Christmas Parade: Start time is 10:00am. Route starts from Blanco Cemetery on to 163 towards town up to the nursing home and then down Pecan and around the square with a brief period on US 281 then back on 163 to the cemetery. We are still seeking floats, cars, marching units and etc. Just come be part of the fun! We will be lining up the parade at the Blanco City Cemetery, starting at 8:00am.
