Woman’s Club Hosts Silver Tea
Wednesday, December 16, 2009 • Posted December 15, 2009

Blanco Woman’s Club held their annual Silver Tea Thursday, December 10, at the Blanco Library from 4:00-8:00pm. The tea is the Woman’s Club annual fundraiser to benefit the library, and the theme this year was “All Aboard the Polar Express.” That theme was carried out throughout the room, with snowflakes and stars around the walls, making it appear wintry, but the friendliness found there certainly warmed the atmosphere. The decorating kudos must absolutely go to Charlene Pace and Diane Turner for the wonderful job they did. Quilts and throws were scattered artfully here and there, and the piece de resistance was a marvelous backdrop, a quilt pieced by Ms. Pace, each block being a Santa Claus for the months of the year. The tables were graced by lovely floral centerpieces, but equally lovely were the hostesses in their starched white aprons. There were door prizes galore, provided by The Blanco Settlement, wrapped in cheerful Christmas paper. There were even two young gentlemen playing violins, serenading all with Christmas music throughout the afternoon. Last but certainly not least were the edible goodies, provided by the members. The food was to die for! It was definitely a stellar event, but the best part is that donations will still be accepted, even though the musicians have packed up their instruments, the decorations have been taken down, and all is quiet until next year at this time. The library is definitely a worthy charity, and much appreciated by all who use it.
