Suspicious Fire and Death in Round Mountain
Wednesday, December 30, 2009 • Posted December 29, 2009

On Saturday evening, December 26, 2009 around midnight, neighbors of a home located on Highway 281 in Round Mountain heard a lot of popping sounds and thought, at first, that it was the sound of somebody lighting fireworks. However, when they looked outside, it was far worse; their neighbor’s home was on fire and burning fast.

The owner of the home was not present at the burning home, but was located at a friend’s house.

Once the fire was out, fire fighters entered the home where they found the remains of six dogs and the body of an unidentified man.

The event is currently under investigation by the Blanco County Sheriff's Department. The victim has been transported to Austin for autopsy.

Once complete, the Sheriff's Department will have a better idea of the cause of death.

When contacted, Sergeant Bob Shelton, of the Blanco Sheriff's Department stated, "We are investigating both a suspicious fire, and a suspicious death and have nothing further to release at this point."
