PEC Johnson City Employees Donate Coats to Needy Families
PEC Press Release
Wednesday, December 30, 2009 • Posted December 29, 2009

Pedernales Electric Cooperative employees in Johnson City worked together to provide more than 200 donated coats for needy families within the PEC service area.

Employees personally distributed 100 coats to area families at PEC’s Blanco Office on December 23.

Community Relations Administrative Assistant Luanne Coleman said the idea for participating in a coat drive was mentioned while planning the employees’ holiday luncheon.

“We wanted to find a new and different way to get our fellow co-workers involved, and hosting a coat drive seemed like the perfect opportunity to help the community,” said Coleman. “The coat drive only lasted two weeks, and we are amazed at the generosity we’ve seen. It’s an honor to help so many families.”

PEC employees worked with the Johnson City Ministerial Alliance, Blanco Good Samaritan Center and school districts to identify those needing assistance. Plans for next year’s coat drive are already underway, including extending and expanding the drive. For more information about the coat drive, please call us toll-free at 1-888-554-4732.
