Blanco Verde Looks Forward to 2010
Wednesday, January 6, 2010 • Posted January 5, 2010

Happy New Year from Blanco Verde! It’s going to be a great year and Blanco Verde is starting the year off with some very exciting events. Eco Club has changed to Wednesday this month.

Together we’ll mix up a batch of Cilantro Pecan Pesto, made from all local ingredients, and give it a taste. Hopefully there will be time for a game that’s also a craft, but you’ll have to come to learn more about that.

Eco Club invites anyone over five years of age to come to the library for fun environmental activities. The projects are simple enough for kids, but challenging enough for adults.

What’s all the buzz about bees? Why are they endangered, and why are they so important? This month’s book club will answer these questions, and help you start your own hive. The books to be discussed are: A Book of Bees by Sue Hubbard and Robbing the Bees by Holly Bishop. Melanie VanAken of Heron’s Nest Farm, will lead the discussion.

You don’t have to have read the books to learn from this interesting conversation. The January pot luck is featuring a discussion on Blanco history. In order to be more sustainable, it helps to know and love the area where you live.

This discussion of the early buildings and businesses of Blanco will help us understand our past and build an informed future. Blanco Verde is co-sponsoring Margaret Boswell’s workshop titled “Awakening the Inner Voice”.

The workshop will give you tools to keep you strong and healthy, and change beliefs that limit you. You will also make a healing essential oil to take home. This is a great opportunity to start the new year happier and more in tune, with techniques to help achieve what you want.

For more info or to register for this event please call 512-940-8843. For any other event or Blanco Verde info you can call 833-0245 or visit our website, www.blancoverde.org.

Blanco Verde has big plans for 2010, so please join us and be part of a growing community that promotes sustainability and environmentalism.
