M.O.D. Bake Sale Slated for Saturday

January 20, 1961

A bake sale will be held Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. for the benefit of the March of Dines.

The sale will be held in front of the Red and White and the IGA.

Little Blanco Inn to Hold Formal Opening Friday, Saturday

January 16, 1970

The Little Blanco Inn at Twin Sisters will hold it formal opening on Friday and Saturday, January 23 and 24 under the management of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Scharnhorst. Free coffee and doughnuts will be served.

Registration for three prizes will begin on Monday, January 19. No purchase necessary to register. Prizes will be: first prize, an electric steam iron; second, an electric knife; and third, chicken dinners for two.

Birthday parties, reunions, club meetings and other gatherings up to 50 persons are welcome upon prior reservations.

Blanco Boys Spilt Contests

January 18, 1980

Blanco Junior High boys split their two non-tournament cage outings, downing host Harper Monday by 41-27 after losing a toughie at Prairie Lea previous Monday, 47-44.

A strong press, 18 points by Richard Smith and 11 by Jesus Calzoncit keyed the Harper win.

Giant Warren Ace was the difference in a physical, loosely called contest at Prairie Lea, as three host scored in double figures, led by Ace with 19. Smith had 16 and Calzoncit 14 for the visitors.

Eickenloff Promoted

January 20, 1961

Headquarters, Corps of Cadets, A&M College of Texas, has announced the promotion of James A. Eickenloff to the position of Staff Sergeant, Squad Leader in Co. C-1 1 Brigade.

Cadet Corps promotions are made of the basis of the individual’s grades and leadership capabilities.

Jimmy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Eickenloff of Blanco.

Engagement Told

January 16, 1970

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Burks announce the engagement of their daughter, Pam, to Wallace G. Dechert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dechert.

The bride elect plans to graduate from Blanco High School before making plans for their wedding.

Her fiancé, a graduate of Blanco High School and Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos is employed at Camp Gary in San Marcos.

Blanco girls rip Harper

January 18, 1980

Harper – Red hot Blanco Junior High girls made it three straight victories Monday night with an easy 26-10 romp over hostess Harper.

Smooth ball handling and the backboard domination of Margaret Berger keyed the win, as Berger accounted for 16 rebounds.

Linda Upshaw led the scoring with ten points, Berger had six, Lisa Walker and Lea Twidwell four a piece.

Tax Collector to be here January 20 and 27

January 16, 1970

Holton Buleson, tax assessor-collector for Blanco County, announced this week that he would be in Blanco on Tuesday, January 27, for the collection of taxes and also for voter registration.

New hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on those days at the Blanco Lumber and Hardware Annex.
