Local Man Serving in Iraq - Community News - Blanco County News

Blanco resident SGT Douglas Behrends is currently deployed overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

A 1982 graduate of Fredericksburg High School, SGT Behrends has been a member of the Texas Army National Guard for over 27 years. He has also been employed by the Texas Army National Guard for over 20 years and is based out of the Fredericksburg Armory. His wife Beverly is in Blanco manning the home front, along with his stepsons, Tanner Sanchez who is a junior at Blanco High School, and Sattler Sanchez who is a 2008 graduate of Blanco High School. SGT Behrends is also the brother of Dr. David Behrends of Blanco.
