January 23, 1961

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Atkins announce the birth of Patricia Ruth Atkins who was born on January 6, 1961 at Texas City.

She is being welcomed by two sisters and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Lowe of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Kretzer of Blanco.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith announce the birth of a granddaughter, Janette René, born on Friday, January 13 in Austin.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Hollingsworth of Austin.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lindeman announce the arrival of a son, Michael James, born Friday, January 20, 1961 at the Blanco Hospital.

He weighed 7 pounds 9 ½ ounces.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kneupper and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lindeman.

Yucca Garden Club to Meet

January 23, 1970

A special guest speaker will highlight the meeting of the Yucca Garden Club on Wednesday, January 28, at 2:00 p.m. in the Methodist Recreation Hall. A baby sitter will be on hand for the convenience of guests with small children.

No business session will be held. Henry Starns of the Green Thumb Garden Center in San Antonio will speak on screening with shrubs and trees with a question and answer period to follow.

Both Johnson City Garden Club and Blanco Young Homemaker’s members have been invited.

Blanco hosts Junior Tourney

January 25, 1980

Dripping Springs will replace Comfort as 16 teams four boys, four girl squads in both seventh and eighth grades complete in the Blanco Junior High Basketball Tourney today and tomorrow.

Action opens at 10:00 a.m. today with seventh girls Blanco vs. Johnson City, followed by the seventh boys of the two schools at 11:00 a.m., the eighth grade girls at noon and the eighth boys at 1:00 p.m.

Then its Comfort Marion teams in the same age and sex orders from 2:00 p.m.. to 5:00 p.m.

Birthday Party

January 27, 1961

Thirty-five and relatives were present at the O.E. Sueltenfuss home last Sunday to celebrate Mrs. Suelenfuss’ birthday.

The great list included Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Esser of Kendalia, Mr. Ralph Harvey and Marion, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Knoll and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Bergman and daughter, Sandra, of Eden, Mrs. Joe Zoeller and family of Boerne, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Kneupper of Kendalia, also sever Blanco friends called during the day.

Beautiful flowers decorated every room and many lovely gifts were presented to the honoree.

Jake Pickle to run again

January 25, 1980

Washington DC – “It is with a sense of pride and humble anticipation that I file again for the office of U.S. Representative of the 10th Congressional District of Texas, announced Congressman J.J. Jake Pickle this week.

“I have always tried to make my office on for all the citizens of the 10th District. The office is a sacred trust, and if re-elected I will continue to devote my actions to keeping the record of this office unblemished.”

Tax Collector to be here on Tuesday

January 23, 1970

Holton Buleson tax assessor collector for Blanco County announced this week that he would be in Blanco, Tuesday January 27 for the collection of taxes and also for voter registration.

New hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Blanco Lumber and Hardware Annex.
