March 2, 2010 the Republican and Democrat parties will both hold primary elections.

The Republicans have several candidates running for county positions and two of those positions are being sought by more than one person.

On the Republican ballot, the office of County Judge is being sought by the incumbent, Bill Guthrie and an opponent, Thomas Maultsby of Johnson City. In Blanco County Precinct 4, in the southern part of the county, incumbent County Commissioner Paul Granberg is being challenged by local businessman Celestino “Choppy” Romero, Jr.

These local candidates and candidates (or their representatives) for U. S. House of Representative, and Justice of the Third Court of Appeals will speak at the Blanco Republican Club meeting.

The meeting will be February 9, 2010 , 7:00 PM; Social 6:30 PM coffee and light dessert at the Pednernales Electric Coop Auditorium, 201 S. Ave. F, Johnson City, TX.

Candidates being opposed for county, district, and state races were invited to speak for a few minutes and will be invited to talk with members before and after the meeting.
