Wednesday, February 10, 2010 • Posted February 9, 2010

Two Blanco Boy Scouts will be representing our local Troop 497 at the 100th anniversary celebration of the Boy Scouts of America at the National Jamboree this summer. Eagle Scouts Grant Weaver and Christopher Barnett will be representing the Hill Country district as well as Troop 497 at the jamboree to be held July 26 through August 4, 2010, at Fort A. P. Hill in Caroline County, Virginia. The scouts will leave August 24 for a Washington D.C. visit to the capitol and arrive at Fort A. P. Hill on July 26. The scouts will set up camp on over 3,000 acres with approximately 43,000 other scouts who are also attending the jamboree.

Grant is currently a junior at Blanco High School and is the son of Dr. John Weaver and Mary Ann Weaver. Christopher is currently a freshman at Blanco High School and is the son of Don and Missy Barnett.
