Local Physician to Discuss Sleep Disorders
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 • Posted February 16, 2010

Michael A. Codiga, MS, MD, will lead a free Good Health School on sleep disorders Friday, February 26, at noon in Hill Country Memorial’s first-floor learning center.

Before the program, the public is invited to meet and visit with Dr. Codiga at 11:30 a.m. in the hospital’s main lobby.

Dr. Codiga said two of the most common sleep disorders, particularly among the elderly, are sleep apnea and PLMS (periodic limb movements of sleep—twitching or involuntary muscle jerks in the legs—and sometimes in the arms). During the Good Health School, Dr. Codiga will discuss risk factors involved and explain symptoms and available treatments.

“It’s important for people to know that in nearly every case of sleep apnea or PLMS, effective treatments are available,” Dr. Codiga said.

Although admission is free, reservations are encouraged for planning purposes. To sign up, please call the Wellness Center at 997-1355.
