Dear Editor,

I attended the Blanco City Council Meeting on February 9 and left there feeling very proud of the citizens and council members. An issue that had sparked great controversy was heard and many people had strong opinions about it. What impressed me the most as a member of this growing town was that people came with prepared information, tempers did not flare, and their issue was expressed in a very professional manner to the City Council. It was one of the largest crowds I have seen at a City Council meeting and it is my hope this trend will continue. Our town of Blanco is on the verge of growth, and as we all know, growth brings about change, and, for all, this is never easy. But, if our citizens will continue attending these meetings, it will help them to be better informed about this special town called Blanco.

Numerous volunteer groups work long hours for our town’s future, including Keep Blanco Beautiful, Old Blanco County Courthouse Society, Blanco Historical Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, Uptown, Streetscape, Blanco Library and others. All of these organizations have one goal in mind—they care deeply for Blanco. These meetings are open to the public, to give us, the citizens an opportunity to learn about the many diverse changes Blanco will be facing.

I would like to sincerely thank all the citizens who took time out of their own busy schedules to attend this past City Council Meeting and urge all to please continue attending so that you can learn about the future for Blanco and more importantly, to have a voice in the future of this gem that we all know as Blanco.
