What’s Up in Kendalia?
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 • Posted February 16, 2010

The Kendalia Extension Education Assoc. met on Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Kendalia Community Center with 10 members and three guests, Marcie Dotson, Donna Lux, and Sonja Hartmann present. Mrs. Lux and Mrs. Hartmann demonstrated rug hooking and had a number of their beautiful items on display.

A community project is being planned especially for school children. Stories will be told through the use of quilts depicting the underground railroad during the Civil War. Using recycled fabric scraps, the children will be able to glue their own quilt blocks. This will give them a hands on exposure to quilting, use recycle materials and educate them about the lore of the underground railroad. We are looking forward to being invited into classrooms to assist teachers with this program.

One of our much loved members, Virginia Chaney, passed away the morning of the meeting. A memorial service is planned at 11 AM at the Kendalia Community Center on Saturday, February 20.

Word was also received that Ruby Jones is celebrating her 90th birthday on Sunday, February 21 at the Blanco Lutheran Church from 2 until 4 PM.

Hostesses Lanette Edmondson, Penny Robbins, and Maggie Winborn served the group two wonderful chili dishes and desserts.
