Do you trust in God? (really?) Do you lean on His Word? Some people may want to, but are just not sure. We should pray and ask God to give us understanding when we read our bibles. The more we read, the more we’ll want to, and God will cause us to understand, and we’ll be much wiser, and not make so many dumb decisions that we could end up regretting for years to come.
Deuteronomy 4:10 “10Specially the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.”
Is your faith level low or just not there? We only need a little, like a mustard seed, but here’s how to increase it!
Romans 10:17 “17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Why go to the internet or another man’s book to learn God’s Word? God wants us to go to Him. He is jealous. Do you lean on someone else more than God (for understanding of His Word)?
2 Timothy 2:15 “ 15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 3:15-17 “15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
That pretty much said "all we need is God's Word and faith in Jesus."
My reference bible says according to the following Scriptures in Deut. 30:11-14, the Word of God is:
Not hidden from man (v.11); Not far off; Not in heaven (v.12); Not beyond the seas (v.3); It is near you; It is in your mouth; It is in your heart (v.14). God’s Word is plainly revealed, and recorded in the most simple human language possible, so that nobody can rightfully claim it is hard to understand because of its hidden meanings. (v.11)
Deuteronomy 30:11-14 “11For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
12It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
13Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
14But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.”
It seems men make the Scriptures hard to understand. Why can’t people just believe God’s Word, instead of looking for some mysterious hidden meaning? When it comes to understanding God’s Word, there’s no one better to explain it than the Holy Spirit. By reading more and more of God’s Word, the Holy Spirit will enlighten us, and teach us.
Isaiah 44:24-28 “ 24Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
25That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;
26That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
27That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:
28That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.”
Someone told me they were confused about the Word of God, and they are doubting God’s Word, and I wish I could help them trust in God’s Word.
I protect my heart from doubt with Proverbs 4:20-23 “20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
If you’d like to refresh your faith in Jesus and the power of His Holy Spirit, try looking up these Scriptures: Matthew 28:20, Luke 24:49,John 7:37-39,Acts 1:4-8
A number of simple promises have been made to all believers that certain signs would follow them: Matthew 17:20 and 21:22, Mark 11:22-24, Mark 16:15-20, John 14:12-15 and 15:7 and 16, John 16:23-26, Hebrews 3:3-4
Deuteronomy 30:15-20 “15See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
17But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
