PTO Announces Successful Fundraisers, Spring Plans
Wednesday, February 24, 2010 • Posted February 23, 2010

The Blanco PTO met for its monthly meeting in February. Several items were on the agenda.

The PTO once again held Chocolate Covered Strawberry and Pretzel Sales for Valentine’s Day, and the group made over $1800 in sales.

The group discussed and voted to provide playground balls and jump ropes, etc that are grade level appropriate at the elementary school at a cost of about $1000.

Purchasing picnic tables for the elementary and middle school campuses was discussed; the group is looking for someone who can either make them or knows someone who can make them, and will begin pricing them.

The PTO is looking in to the possibility of providing Magik Theatre at the elementary and the Jump Rope show at the Middle School.

With over 300 t-shirts left, it was decided that they would have a T-shirt blowout this spring for $5.00 per shirt. All leftovers will be donated to the high school for pep rallies and may possibly donate some to other campuses, depending on discussion at the next meeting.

Addition of the Buy a Bunny a program at the Middle School campus was discussed. This program raises money to provide Easter baskets to indigent families in the Blanco area. School counselors identify those recipients and then deliver the gifts.

The PTO will be hosting a movie at the elementary school. They have paid $75 for the licensing fee. It will be a casual family gathering and canned good donations for the Good Samaritan Center in Blanco will be appreciated. The date will be determined once the Little League decides on their schedule.

Fund requests were made by the Middle School in the amount of $95 for a UIL trophy case and the Pre-K class in the amount of $525 for their end of the year field trip to the San Antonio Zoo.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 4 at Blanco Elementary at 8:15am.
