Junior Varsity Panthers Win Season Opener
Wednesday, February 24, 2010 • Posted February 23, 2010

The Blanco Panther JV Baseball Team showed a lot of promise in their season opener this past Monday. However, their overall inexperience also showed resulting in a final score of 8 to 8 against the visiting San Antonio Wolverines. Due to time, the Panthers were unable to continue into extra innings but picked up the win as a result of more total runners reaching second base.

On the mound, freshman Sam Isenberg scattered 11 hits while striking out 8 and allowing just 1 earned run through seven innings against the Wolverines’ varsity reserves. At the plate, Isenberg went 3 for 3 with an RBI, stolen base, and 2 runs scored. Sophomore catcher Weston Copenhaver also had a solid performance going 3 for 4 and driving in 2 runs while CF Petey Chalico would be another Panther with multiple hits as he went 2 for 3, scoring 2 runs and picking up an RBI.

The Panthers’ next game will be at home on Monday, March 1 when they host the Sonora Broncos. The freshmen will play at 4:00 p.m. followed by the JV at 6:00 p.m.
