Wednesday, February 24, 2010 • Posted February 23, 2010

On February 16, the varsity softball team captured a 16-1 victory in their season opener against Keystone of San Antonio. Catcher Alex Gustafson went 3 for 3 batting with 1 RBI. Angel Williams, Callie Culton, Kelsey Schwind and Hayley Fishbeck each batted 2 for 3.

On February 19, the Lady Panthers faced a tough 4A opponent, the Hays Lady Rebels. The Panthers played outstanding defense for the first 3 innings, holding the Rebels at 1 run. However, during the 4th inning the Hays team began to connect with hits and the Panthers made some costly errors. The final score was 0-12. Leslie McClinton hit the only single for the Panthers against an excellent Hays pitcher.

On February 21, the Panthers held the Llano Yellowjackets for a 4-3 win. Leading 4-0 at the end of the 5th inning, the Blanco team fought off a late rally by the Jackets. Coach Seales said, “All the girls are doing a great job. We are looking forward to a promising season.”
