Blanco ISD Schools Celebrate Texas Public Schools Week

Blanco ISD schools will celebrate Texas Public Schools Week March 8 – 12 with several activities, including Open Houses at each campus. The theme will be “Education: Go Get It!” Students throughout the District will be participating in activities designed around college and post-high school readiness.

On Monday, March 8, Blanco Elementary will celebrate the “Day of the Young Child,” sponsored by the Blanco Early Childhood, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), Blanco High School Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and the Blanco County Early Impact Team. These organizations will provide a free family event open to all children of Blanco and surrounding areas. A morning of fun will include games and activities for children and also provide information for parents about service organizations who serve young children and their families.

The Elementary School will host an Open House on Tuesday, March 9, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. The Blanco Masonic Lodge will also award a Lamar Medal to an outstanding elementary educator.

The Middle School will be having activities going on all week, highlighted by its Open House scheduled for Monday, March 8. Hot dogs and chips will be served to all guests starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a short program and an Open House from 6:00 – 7:00. The Blanco Masonic Lodge will also be present to award a Lamar Medal to an outstanding middle school educator.

Ongoing activities throughout the week at the middle school include a surprise guest speaker on Monday, taxidermist Jerry Ayer on Tuesday, a school-wide spelling bee on Thursday, and an 8th grade high school orientation on Friday...

On Monday, Blanco High School will kick off Texas Public Schools Week with “Hats Off to Your Education” day, with students wearing caps of their favorite colleges. In addition, hallways will be displayed with locations and information of teachers’ colleges. On Tuesday, teachers will share their college experiences with their students. On Wednesday, students and teachers will wear t-shirts/sweaters of their favorite college.

Blanco High School will host its Open House on Thursday, March 11, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. The science department will perform exciting demonstrations during this time. Following the Open House, a presentation of the District One Act Play will be performed in the cafeteria. BHS is inviting incoming freshmen from Blanco Middle School to tour BHS Friday morning to introduce them to the high school experience and show what the high school has to offer, such as organizations and classes.
