Melbourne Jerome Banks, age 81, passed away on March 13, 2010 at his home in Canyon Lake, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, John F. Banks and Selma Scott Banks. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and lived the last four years in Canyon Lake, Texas. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He worked in the Oil Field Industry before retiring. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. Mel was a 32nd degree Mason for more than 50 years and a Shriner of the Arabian Temple in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Wynona Lee Banks; his daughters, Glenda Stanton, Sandy Stratton, Linda Wicker and Pam Scifers; his grandchildren, Mike Wicker, Paul Brent, Neil Brent, Kristie Shenk, Amy Howard, Amanda Wicker, Staci Pacheco, Joey Stratton, Wyndi Klostermann, Steven Scifers, Jonathan Scifers; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco, Texas on Tuesday, March 16 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Funeral services will be at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco, Texas on Wednesday, March 17 at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Fischer Cemetery in Fischer, Texas.
