Blanco Lions Club Out and About
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 • Posted March 16, 2010

The Blanco Lions Club has been busy helping to make the community a better place. Through the collection of aluminum cans, the club is able to keep functioning, however, because we have been affected by the downturn in the economy as well, all other donations are accepted and appreciated.

Of course, the number one thing that will ensure that the Blanco Lions will be around for years is members. We meet every first and third Thursday at 6:30 p.m., in the meeting room at Riley’s Steak House. We would love to have you visit; bring a friend or neighbor, too. The cost is $8.00 to eat if you would like to have a meal.

Being a Lion is more than just going to a meeting; it is making a difference in our community and in people’s lives. So, please think about it and come join us in making a difference one step at a time.

Our high school age members, the Leos, are a wonderful group of kids who work very hard at every event in which they participate. They helped out with our Pancake Supper on Fat Tuesday, which is a very special event that the Lions Club, Project Graduation, Leos, and the Trinity Lutheran Church always work on together. All monies go toward the Seniors having a safe but fun thing to do after they graduate. We raised about a thousand dollars this year.

This year our motto has been “Move To Grow “, which is very fitting considering everything is always moving and growing. There is always change amongst us all. We always have a really good time and great food at every meeting. We appreciate our members for making Blanco Lions Club such a success over the last 71 years.
