Weed Control Program Set For March 29
Wednesday, March 24, 2010 • Posted March 23, 2010

With the great winter rainfall we have experienced and continued wet spring, we are set for a good growing season for our desirable plants as well as those pesky weeds.

Individuals who would like to attend a weed management program or hold a Private, Commercial or Non-Commercial Pesticide applicators license will want to mark March 29, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. down for a 1 hour Continuing Education Program.

Wade Hibler, County Extension Agent-Ag/NR for Burnet County will present this program which will focus on the imminent weed problem all our wet weather will bring to us this spring.

This educational program will look at various tools which can be used to deter weed growth in hay pastures as well as rangeland. Herbicides, prescribed fire and mechanical options will address this concern. "When you follow a hard drought with the type of rains we are experiencing now, you will have a large crop of weeds emerge" quotes the Extension Agent. "Our program will provide not only an hour CEU credit for those who hold applicator license but it will provide excellent information on how to stop these weeds" adds Hibler.

This program will be held at the Old Blanco County Courthouse in Blanco starting at 6:00 p.m. If you have any questions call 830-868-7167.
